For most people, high school life is the best among all their schooling years and for sure they have their own reasons. So let us take one step backwards as we walk down the memory lane and let concoctions of emotions spring out.
High school reminds us of those days when young girls and gays alike scream out to their lungs when they see their crushes while young boys do everything just to earn the attention of their female crushes. This was the time when these teens' hearts are yet so vulnerable from the heartaches and would cry for their young love.
Intramural is one event that every student looks forward to once every year because of irregular classes and it's the time for them to take a break from wearing uniforms. For some school it's a week-long activity but for some it may last for a month. Did you join a sports stint way back or did you rather become a cheerleader for yourself?
It was also the time when young teens idolized and imitated the Spice Girls and different boy bands with some of them popping out from nowhere and soon you'll realize they're nowhere to be found in the music scene --- one hit wonders that is!
Rampant teasing among our schoolmates was such a hit. Lucky you if you don't have to undergo this stage but I doubt if you never really did. Everyone had their own share of insults from their classmates and bullies. Some are funny while some are downright irritating and stupid --- funny but not in a "ha-ha" way but rather "God, get me outta here!" I just find it strange for some people who have made teasing and insulting other people a brouhaha. Oh well, that's where they find their happiness I guess.
And who would ever miss out the love teams you had in high school? If you're goodlooking enough then you get to be paired with most of the opposite sex, and in some cases, with the same sex even. What's funny is when you get to see your name and your love team's name vandalized in the chairs, blackboards and even in the comfort rooms. Poor you if someone tripped on you and carved it in the trees like what you see in movies.
And oh, don't we just hate those teacher's pets who keep on running errands for their mentors just to get high grades and incentives? There are also these students who are such grade-conscious they'd keep on comparing their test results with others. Well it's annoying but no biggie though. I never believed in grades anyway. But if being a teacher's pet is such a crime, then I know some of my classmates would be spending the rest of their years in prison.
High school life wouldn't be complete without the food trips at the strip side of our campuses. You need not spend a fortune to fill in your stomach - thanks to the wonderfully delightful kwek-kwek, isaw, and barbeque among other street foods then add to that a loving doze of booze and "yosi" to finish off that weeknights.
